Before you order. All four kits ship from 28 September 2026. Ballast weights are not included. Suitable ballast must be sourced separately. You will need a suitable external socket at the installation location. Applies across the range.

Why panel wattage is higher than output

The wattage in the name is the DC panel capacity. A larger array does not raise the AC output above the 800 VA framework limit; it widens the window in which the kit generates closer to that ceiling, including in low light. Batteries and battery-integrated devices are excluded from the plug-in solar framework and are not sold here.

RRPs shown are the manufacturer's recommended prices. The live product page is the pricing authority. DC panel capacity is the total rating of the panels supplied; the microinverter's AC output remains within the maximum 800 VA allowed by the current plug-in solar framework, so a larger array widens the generation window rather than raising peak output. Products are designed to meet the UK Plug-in Solar Device Interim Product Specification. Any compliance statement for a specific kit remains conditional until that exact complete product holds a declaration of compliance and its inverter/device is confirmed on the ENA G98 Type Test Register. We make no claim that MCS certification is legally required for plug-in solar, or that this kit is MCS-certified.

Included with every kit

Free £49 DNO notification.

Every plug-in solar installation has to be notified to your electricity network operator under G98. We complete and submit that notification for you — normally a £49 service, included free with every SocketPower kit. No forms, no chasing, no extra cost.

How the notification works
  • We collect the details we need at checkout — no technical knowledge required.
  • We file the G98 notification with your network operator on your behalf.
  • You get written confirmation for your records.
  • Worth £49. Charged at £0 with every kit.

Questions

The things people ask.

Is plug-in solar suitable for my home?

It suits homes with an unshaded spot for the panels and a suitable external socket at that location. The supplied mounting hardware is designed for gardens, patios and ground installations and, where the kit supports it, suitable wall installations. Ballast weights are not included and must be sourced separately. You must also obtain any permission required by your tenancy, lease, landlord, freeholder or managing agent.

What happens with G98 / my network operator?

We handle it. After delivery we email you a secure link; you confirm your address, MPAN and that the unit is connected, and we file the applicable G98 notification with your Distribution Network Operator as your agent, then send written confirmation. This is notification, not prior approval. Properties with existing solar, battery or other generation are handled manually by our compliance team.

How difficult is the installation?

The kit arrives as a complete matched set. You position and secure the panels using the supplied mounting hardware and your own ballast, connect the microinverter, then connect using the manufacturer-supplied lead and fused plug to a suitable external socket after completing the safety checks. No extension leads, no adaptors, and nothing in the connection path is swapped or substituted.

How much could I save?

It depends on your kit, tariff, position, shading and how much electricity you use during daylight. We do not publish savings or payback figures — generation varies too much between homes for a single number to be meaningful.

What happens if I move?

The mounting is reversible and non-permanent, so the kit can be taken with you. If you permanently remove a unit we also notify disconnection to your Distribution Network Operator; a new installation address needs a new notification.

What warranty and support do I get?

A 10-year panel warranty with the manufacturer's warranty paperwork in the box, plus UK technical support. Report transit damage within 48 hours of delivery; manufacturing faults are covered any time in the warranty period, and we arrange replacement or refund at no cost.

When will it ship?

All kits ship from 28 September 2026. We supply and deliver to England, Scotland and Wales only.

What is included?

The matched panel or panels, one 800W smart microinverter limited to 799 VA AC, the manufacturer's AC connection lead and fused plug, kit-specific mounting hardware, app monitoring, full documentation and our G98 notification service. Ballast weights and an external socket are not included.

Before you install

Plug-in solar safety checklist

01

A suitable external socket

You will need a suitable external socket at the installation location. The system connects to it using the manufacturer-supplied BS 1363 fused plug. Never use an extension cable, multiway adaptor, travel adaptor or plug-in RCD adaptor.

02

A suitable installation position

The supplied mounting hardware is designed for free-standing positions such as a garden, patio or flat roof. Check the position can take the weight and wind loading before you order.

03

Ballast weights are not included

Suitable ballast must be sourced separately and installed in accordance with the supplier instructions and your own site conditions.

04

Modern residual-current protection

Your circuit needs modern residual-current protection (RCD/RCBO). Older fuse-based protection, unsuitable wiring, damaged sockets, any uncertainty, or any required circuit modification must be referred to a qualified electrician before installation.

05

One device per household

Current G98 network rules restrict use to one plug-in solar device per household, unless and until G98 is amended.

06

800 VA maximum, solar only

The framework covers single-phase solar PV with a maximum inverter apparent output of 800 VA, supplied as a complete compliant device or kit. Plug-in batteries, battery-integrated devices and other plug-in generation technologies are excluded.

07

Mounting and permissions

Follow the manufacturer's mounting instructions exactly, and obtain any permission required by your tenancy, lease, landlord, freeholder, managing agent or relevant authority before installing.

08

G98 network notification

A G98 notification to your Distribution Network Operator is required. We handle the applicable G98 notification and send you written confirmation.

The plug-in solar framework applies in Great Britain from 27 August 2026. This is general information, not legal or electrical advice. Read the full regulatory guide.
