Which SocketPower kit is right for my home?

It depends on your unshaded outdoor space, your suitable external socket and how much electricity you use during daylight. Our buyer's guide compares the four kits, and the calculator estimates output from your own inputs.

Do I need an electrician?

The kit arrives as a complete matched set and connects using the manufacturer-supplied lead and fused plug to a suitable external socket, after you complete the safety checks. Nothing in the connection path should be swapped or substituted, and no extension leads or adaptors should be used. If you are unsure whether your outdoor socket is suitable, have it checked by a qualified electrician.

Is plug-in solar legal in Great Britain?

Yes, when the system is a matched kit limited to 799 VA AC output and the applicable G98 notification is made to your Distribution Network Operator. We supply England, Scotland and Wales only.

What is a G98 notification, and is it included?

G98 is the notification your Distribution Network Operator receives about a small generator connected at your property. It is notification, not prior approval. We handle the applicable filing as your agent: after delivery we email a secure link, you confirm your address, MPAN and that the unit is connected, and we send written confirmation. Properties with existing solar, battery or other generation are handled manually by our compliance team.

How do returns and warranties work?

You have 14 days from receipt to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, and we extend this to 30 days for unopened, unused items in original packaging. Kits include a 10-year panel warranty. Report transit damage within 48 hours of delivery; manufacturing faults are covered at any time during the warranty period.

Can renters use plug-in solar, or do I need permission?

The mounting is reversible and non-permanent, so the system can be removed and taken with you. You must still obtain any permission required by your tenancy, lease, landlord, freeholder or managing agent before installing.
